Autistic children and children with communication disabilities often need augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, adaptive software, and sensory-friendly tools to learn and thrive — tools that families cannot always afford. The Kes Foundation's Interactive Learning program places these tools directly in homes and classrooms, with the training to make them work.

What Families Receive

Families and classrooms accepted into the Interactive Learning program receive:

  • AAC devices — tablets pre-loaded with AAC communication software, standalone AAC devices, and speech-generating devices for children with limited verbal communication
  • Adaptive software licenses — math, reading, and STEAM programs designed for autistic learners and children with learning differences
  • Sensory-friendly curricula — lesson sets that account for sensory sensitivities, need for routine, and varied learning styles
  • Family training — hands-on sessions teaching caregivers how to use each tool effectively at home
  • Teacher partnerships — we train classroom teachers alongside families so the tools travel between home and school

Who This Is For

The Interactive Learning program is designed for:

  • Autistic children who use AAC or could benefit from augmentative communication tools
  • Children with communication disabilities who need adaptive learning software
  • Families in under-resourced situations whose school or insurance won't provide these tools
  • Classrooms and teachers supporting autistic students who need additional resources

We do not require a formal diagnosis to apply. If your child needs these tools and your family cannot access them elsewhere, we want to hear from you.
